Second prize in Switzerland – New Rotkreuz Cantonal School Building
We are delighted to announce that, together with the architectural practice AFF, we have been awarded second prize for the new building for the Cantonal School in Rotkreuz.
The design bridges the gap between the planned buildings and the open spaces of the sports park through a stepped elevation and staggered building blocks.
The Cantonal School makes a confident statement in the public space and, together with the surrounding green spaces, squares and access routes, forms an open, well-connected fabric. By keeping the area in front of the future Cantonal School and the Dorfmatt sports hall unobstructed, a continuous sequence of open spaces is created between Dorfmattplatz and the new school square, as well as the open spaces of the sports park to the south. The elongated building is divided into four sections. Recesses and terraces create varied outdoor spaces for socialising and learning.
