Together with our wonderful colleagues from the Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos studio, we won 2nd prize in an interdisciplinary realisation competition for the new Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Archaeological Museum in Rostock. Many thanks for the great teamwork!
Excerpt from the competition: "A new building for the State Archaeological Museum of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is to be constructed in or on the water in the Christinenhafen harbour of the Hanseatic and university city of Rostock by 2030. The new building will not only present the collection of the State Archaeological Museum and thus the archaeological heritage of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in a contemporary way, but also support scientific networking in cooperation with the University of Rostock. At the same time, the new building is an essential building block for the urban upgrading and further development of Rostock's city harbour into an attraction and landmark for residents and guests.
The architectural solution for the new museum building continues the development of Rostock's city harbour that begun with the projects for the Federal Garden Show 2025, meet outstanding design standards and offer a high quality of stay. The museum should take into account the principles of flexibility, sustainability, digitalisation, social inclusion and a high aesthetic standard.”
