Polis and paradise. Contemporary urbanity versus heavenly garden art. These are the counterpoints that are staged in the design for the marketplace in Neustadt. Using the existing spatial forms of neighboring buildings, the design creates an open market area in contrast to a small hill on which stands Saint George Church. The design creates and elaborates on two urban spatial atmospheres: the town hall on a contemporary public square connected to a hilltop church within a city garden.
