The Fischereihafen of Bremerhaven are part of the few German harbors that are both leisure and business tourism points. The redesign of the Fischereihafen is based on sustainable interventions that organize key points of interest around the harbor—historical sites, research institutes, theatres, restaurants—into a coherant urban whole, giving rise to a contemporary maritime identity. Roughly planed wood decking and gentle wafts of mist, cherry blossoms and old cobbles, brackish water and smoked fish envelop the harbor in a maritime poetry and define it as a unique and popular place in Bremerhaven.
